 Welcome to Westernport Child

    Care Centre & Kindergarten.

We would like to welcome you & your family to the Westernport Child Care

Centre & Kindergarten website.

Westernport Child Care Centre & Kindergarten is a family owned business which

has been in operation for 25 years.

Established by Gerardo & Josephine Giacco in 1996, the services have a long history of caring and educating. Unfortunately we lost our leader and founder Gerardo in 2007, this left a massive hole in our lives.

At this time Joe Giacco was appointed as a Director and took the role of Licensee & Approved provider. In 2021 Josephine officially retired and handed over the services to her 3 Children Tina, Joe and Frank.

Today Joe remains the Managing Director, Licensee & Approved Provider, with Tina and Frank Company Directors (Frank also our Maintenance Manager).

Our Team have a wealth of experience, with a long line of outstanding team members that have served the service with distinction in every way possible and importantly in the planning and delivery of education and care services.

Lead By Joe Giacco (25yrs experience in the sector), Kylie McCarthy (25yrs), and Katherine Giacco (25yrs)  We look very much forward to caring for and educating your children.

At Westernport Childcare we strive to provide a high quality of care and educational programs. We offer funded kindergarten programs at our centre along with opportunities for the children to participate in music and movement programs, perceptual motor programs, environmental awareness and several incursions throughout the year.

We participate in the National Quality Standards and are continually revising our practices to ensure we maintain current and accurate records, policies and procedures.

Our educators have extensive experience in children's services and come from varying backgrounds. Our staff are very important to us and participate in professional development workshops throughout the year, which ensures that they are providing an up-to-date service to your child and Family.

Educator's photographs and qualifications can be located in the foyer of the centre.

Please don't hesitate to contact us should you have any further questions or would like a tour of one of our centres.

Sustainability in mind.

All Centres and our office have now had Solar Power installed, this was completed in 2021. We have commenced installing Solar Batteries with Hastings and Lang Lang completed June 2021.

2016 has marked 20 years since Westernport Child Care Centre first opened its Hastings doors for the first time.

Josephine and Gerry Giacco starting what we are all part of today, only back then the Hastings centre alone was a massive achievement.

The environment we as a society are leaving for our children’s children is not looking so good.

Global warming is a real threat to us all so we work hard at encouraging sustainability in the centres that includes the children’s participation, hoping that they will one day lead a revolution in protecting our planet.

In an attempt to inspire others we have embarked on a path to reduce our Carbon footprint through but not limited to;  Significant solar power generation and storage, minimising waste, recycling, being water wise, moving to Eletric garden equipment and so on.

We installed solar power to our Cranbourne and Koo Wee Rup centres in 2017 and have completed all of our facilities in 2021.

The solar systems have proved significant enough to provide enough power to run the service without using power from the grid during normal daylight hours, and on weekends we generate CLEAN power back into the grid and batteries for others to use.

On our calculations we anticipate we have and will reduce power consumption by as much as 70%.

This will (in tonnes) reduce our greenhouse emissions by 63 ton per year or 1,260 ton over the next 20 years.
