Funded Kindergarten Program

Play-Based Learning Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)

Embarking on your child’s educational journey is a significant milestone. At Westernport Child Care Centre, we offer a high-quality funded kindergarten program that supports children’s development through play, creativity, and meaningful learning experiences. Our funded kindergarten programs are built around learning that feels natural, purposeful, and filled with curiosity.

Our Funded Kindergarten at Westernport Child Care Centre is guided by the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which emphasises the importance of Belonging, Being, and Becoming. We recognise that early childhood is a foundational period where imagination and social connection flourish. Our educators foster these qualities every day through intentional teaching and responsive interactions.

What Makes Our Funded Kindergarten Program Unique

  • Child-Centred Planning: Our qualified early childhood educators design learning experiences based on children’s interests, strengths, and emerging skills. This ensures each child is engaged, challenged, and supported in their learning journey within our funded kindergarten programs.
  • Play as a Learning Tool: We use play as a powerful vehicle for learning. Every activity, from storytelling and music to imaginative play and problem-solving, is thoughtfully planned to promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. This aligns with a play-based learning approach guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
  • Inclusive and Supportive Environment: We create a safe and inclusive space where children feel a strong sense of belonging. Through positive relationships and collaborative play, children build confidence, resilience, and communication skills, which are core goals within our funded kindergarten program.

Understanding Funded Kindergarten Program

The Victorian Government provides funding to ensure all children can access a quality kindergarten program. This means your child can participate in at least 15 hours per week of early learning with qualified educators, without families bearing the full cost.

Our funded kindergarten programs align with the five EYLF Learning Outcomes:

  • Children have a strong sense of identity
  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world
  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
  • Children are confident and involved learners
  • Children are effective communicators

At Westernport Child Care Centre, we are committed to nurturing each child’s potential through a holistic, play-based approach that prepares them for lifelong learning and this is exactly what our funded kindergarten programs at Westernport Child Care Centre focus on delivering every week.
